Leeds handed ‘huge boost’ after two pieces of news emerge pre-Norwich – Mills

Potential returns for Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips against Norwich this Sunday will give Leeds United a “huge boost”, according to Danny Mills.

However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Whites defender warned of question marks surrounding the club’s squad depth with Marcelo Bielsa still suffering from “lots of injuries” to first-teamers.

Speaking in his pre-Canaries press conference (October 29th), Bielsa confirmed Raphinha is “likely” to be available for Sunday’s match.

Raphinha sat out as Leeds United fell to a 2-0 defeat in the League Cup against Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Phillips made his return from injury with 90 minutes at the Emirates Stadium.

The England international has missed the last two Premier League games against Southampton and Wolves.

Winger Raphinha limped off against the Midlands club last Saturday after falling victim to a shocking Romain Saisss lunge.

Summer signing Junior Firpo is also set to return to the fold after an injury layoff.

Mills insisted the team news update is a “huge boost” ahead of a crucial bottom-half clash.

“It’s a huge boost to have them back,” he told Football Insider.

“They’re vitally important players, Phillips and Raphinha – but they still have a lot of injuries.

“There are lots of questions to be answered in terms of personnel as they look to get through this period without a full-strength squad.”

Leeds United

Phillips, a mainstay for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions, has made six appearances for Leeds United this season.

Raphinha, who made his debut for Brazil earlier this month, has netted three goals in eight league games this term.
