Leeds have ‘big worry’ after latest Bamford twist – pundit

Patrick Bamford’s latest injury should be a “big worry” for Leeds United, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted it is very concerning when a player starts to pick up different injuries.

Bamford has only featured once for Leeds since picking up an ankle injury in a 1-1 draw away to Newcastle in September last year (2021).

He then suffered a hamstring injury on his return against Brentford at the beginning of December and has suffered various niggles since then.

As quoted by Leeds Live on Friday (21 January), Marcelo Bielsa revealed the latest knock was on the bottom of his foot.

Bielsa updated on Saturday (22 January) to admit he will likely be without his star striker for their next game – a visit to Aston Villa next month (9 February).

“It’s very worrying when you get injured and you start injuring other parts of your body,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“This is a big worry, we’ve seen it with players before in the past. They start getting injuries everywhere on their body.

“Patrick Bamford will be fighting hard to get back. He’s been such a revelation at Leeds and he’ll have aspirations of going to the World Cup. I’m sure he’ll be doing everything he can to get back fit.”

Bamford scored 17 Premier League goals last season and made his England debut earlier this season.

He has found the net twice and provided two assists in six top-flight appearances this term.
