Leeds man tells club to complete stunning Tammy Abraham signing

Leeds United are planning to rocket-fuel their attack with the signing of a top-class striker in the summer transfer window.

Daniel Farke’s side are currently leading the Championship, and plans are being put in place ahead of their anticipated return to the Premier League.

A number of potential improvements are being worked on in the background, but a new centre-forward is set to be the club’s summer priority as things stand.

Concerns about Patrick Bamford’s future and the long-term role of Joel Piroe have led to the desire to land a big-name striker to lead the line in the top tier.

Leeds tried to sign Southampton striker Cameron Archer, 23, in the January transfer window, but were unable to reach an agreement before the 3 February deadline.

Their interest is said to have lingered, but the recruitment team at Elland Road are considering a number of options – including Roma’s former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.

Now, former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who remains well connected to his old club, has urged the club to prioritise a move for Abraham, 27, ahead of Archer in what would be a major coup for Farke’s side.

Leeds linked with Tammy Abraham and Cameron Archer

Abraham is currently on loan at AC Milan, while his Roma contract is set to expire come the end of the season and he looks likely to become available on a free transfer.

So far this season, he has scored eight goals and provided four assists in 35 appearances across all competitions while leading the line.

However, his experience of top-level football including a spell in the Premier League with Chelsea, for whom he made 82 appearances, is seen as a valuable asset.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Robinson explained that he could be signed to lead the line alongside the addition of Archer this summer.

There have been links to signing Tammy Abraham,” he told Football Insider.

“That link would be a lot more exciting than the potential move for Cameron Archer.

“Abraham is out of contract at the end of the season, he’s on loan at the moment but he’ll go back to his parent club out of contract.

“Somebody like him who can lead the line, play as an out-and-out striker and gets you the goals…

“He’s proven in Serie A and proven in the Premier League, he’s a player that understands the league and has done well previously there.

“For me, Cameron Archer is a good player and he’s still only 23, but you can’t rely on him to get the goals.

“If you sign him alongside Abraham and have them together, then yeah, but not as a singular signing.”

Daniel Farke keen to block Everton move for Manor Solomon

Leeds are already putting plans in place to improve their side in the summer, as they plan to keep hold of Manor Solomon, who has spent the season on loan from Tottenham.

The 25-year-old has shone in Farke’s side, picking up seven goals and seven assists in 27 league games so far, and the club are expected to make a permanent move for his signature.

However, Robinson told Football Insider on 21 February that Everton want to sign Solomon from Tottenham and could beat Leeds to the deal.

He has emerged as one of the top targets at Goodison Park as David Moyes and Everton plan to sign quality attacking talents to bolster their squad.
