Leeds player ratings v Aston Villa: Powerhouse dominates in 8/10 outing
Goalkeeper and defenders
Felix Wiedwald – 7: The German keeper has been widely criticised at times this season, despite his bright start to the campaign, but he is back to impressing between the sticks. His handling and distribution were good, while he pulled off some impressive second half stops to deny the Villa attack.
Luke Ayling – 6: Was not tested much in the first half and it was perhaps best he was not judging by his second half display. He committed to a slide tackle which he missed, letting Aston Villa in behind them and forcing Wiedwald into a save.
Liam Cooper – 5: Nearly joined his defensive partner on the scoresheet with a well taken header past Johnstone, but was denied by the linesman flag for a correct offside call. At the back he was hit-and-miss, dominating in the air but struggling when the ball was played on the floor.
Pontus Jansson – 7: An outstanding header from the Swedish international opened the scoring, for what was his first goal of the season. He was a constant threat from set plays and resolute at the back in one of his best displays of the season.
Gaetano Berardi – 6: A typically no-nonsense display from the versatile defender, he was never going to be catching the headlines. Offered Villa very little down their right flank, doing exactly what was expected of him.
