Leeds set to sign Harrison for half price after ‘done deal’ verdict – ex-manager

Alex McLeish has claimed Jack Harrison is worth £20million-plus as Leeds United close in on signing him permanently.

The former Scotland boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested a permanent move to Elland Road could be a “done deal” ahead of the summer.

As revealed by Football Insider back in December, Leeds have a £10million purchase clause in place for the 24-year-old.

The Whites chose not to activate the winger’s purchase option last summer and instead negotiated a third successive loan.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider the club are expected to trigger the eight-figure clause to turn Harrison’s stay permanent when the season finishes.

However, McLeish insisted Harrison is worth at least double the fee agreed last year.

“There’ll probably be a deadline on that clause,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“With the season that he’s had, Man City will be possibly thinking when does it expire? Because he’s now looking like a £20million player. In the current climate, £10million is something Leeds could easily do business-wise.

“Therefore, they’ll probably just be waiting for some kind of deadline and then doing it immediately before that. For all we know, talks are really amicable and it’s kind of almost a done deal.

“Three loan years and he’s grown every step of the way with Leeds’ progress. He’s like an integral part of the family now.”

Harrison has scored eight goals and contributed eight assists in 35 Premier League appearances this season.

While he has never featured for Manchester City’s senior side, he has played 127 times for Leeds during his loan spells.
