Leeds tipped to announce new signing ‘soon’ after crushing Gelhardt blow – pundit
Leeds United will sign a new striker this month after Joe Gelhardt picked up an injury.
That’s according to former Whites stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about his former side’s “desperate” need for a new striker.
Manager Marcelo Bielsa confirmed last Sunday (9 January) that Gelhardt had suffered an ankle injury in training, as per Leeds Live.

The 19-year-old centre-forward is likely to be out of action for “three to four weeks”, revealed the Argentine.
Patrick Bamford has also struggled with injuries this season and, as a result, Kenny claims Leeds will look to sign a new striker as soon as possible.
“Leeds have to sign a striker this month, surely,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“We have been saying this for weeks now. Actually, we have been saying it all season.
“Don’t forget, one of the reason’s Gelhardt is playing is because of injury.
“Now he’s injured, I’m sorry, it’s obvious. Leeds are desperate for a new striker.
“Even without Gelhardt getting injured they needed a new striker because you can’t play the way Leeds do and not pick up injuries.
“If they are going to do anything, I think there will be an announcement a striker will arrive soon. That will give the whole place a lift as well.
“Fans love a new striker coming in and scoring goals, that’s what they need right now. The fans will love it.”

Before his injury, Gelhardt was enjoying a breakthrough season at Elland Road.
The youngster has notched one goal and three assists in nine senior appearances this term.
