Leeds tipped to axe star after early Bamford news pre-Norwich – pundit

Kevin Campbell has tipped Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa to start Patrick Bamford against Norwich on Sunday if he is fully fit.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said the 28-year-old is likely to replace Rodrigo Moreno in the starting XI for the clash.

Bamford has been sidelined with an ankle injury since the 1-1 draw at Newcastle United on October 17th.

The Whites have scored just three goals in six games across all competitions in his absence.

According to Leeds Live (October 27th), Bamford is back in the picture for this weekend’s crucial Premier League fixture at Carrow Road.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side travel to bottom-of-the-table Norwich in desperate need of a win after picking up just seven points from their first nine league games this season.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Bamford would likely come straight into the XI, Campbell said:

“Rodrigo has not set the world alight, although he scored the penalty last weekend. They have missed Bamford, you cannot get away from that.

“But, you never know what Bielsa is going to do. He could play both of them.

“I expect Bamford to come back in for the Norwich game if he is fully fit. It could be at the expense of Rodrigo.”

Leeds United

Speaking on the 21st of October, Bielsa hinted at two big injury returns for Leeds this Sunday.

He said: “[Luke] Ayling and Bamford are not going to be here for the next two games [Wolves and Arsenal].”
