Leeds tipped to launch £15m Madueke bid after update on talks - Whelan
Noel Whelan has tipped Leeds United to launch a £15million bid to sign PSV Eindhoven winger Noni Madueke amid talks over a deal.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the Whites would “test the waters” for the 19-year-old.
As revealed by Football Insider on Friday (July 2nd), Leeds have reignited their pursuit of Madueke after being told a £20million offer could seal a deal.
As detailed by this site in March, Leeds cooled their interest in the teenager after being informed of his £25million price tag at PSV.
However, the Yorkshire giants have been given encouragement the Dutch outfit will lower their demands.
Whelan suggested Leeds could start the bidding at £15million to strike a fee-plus-wages deal totalling £20million instead.

“You’ve got to test the waters first and foremost,” Whelan told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.
“If you can save yourself £5million that could be the wage so everything’s included in that lump sum of £20million.
“We’re looking for the future, we’re looking to bring in the top young talent. That [interest in Madueke] doesn’t surprise me.
They’ve always been a team that brought through youngsters, whether it be the academy or buying good, young, promising prospects.
“We’re not spending silly. We’re looking for later and we’re also looking for now. They’re covering bases and that is what good clubs do.
“We could be saving ourselves a lot of money and an investment as well as in the long run.”
A versatile winger who can play anywhere in attack, Madueke scored nine goals and contributed eight assists for PSV last season.
The former Tottenham youngster also made his England under-21s debut in March.
