Leeds told to accept ‘£12.5m’ Max Wober offer – pundit
Leeds United should look to sell Max Wober this summer as the defender is unlikely to have a future at Elland Road.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Scotland striker Frank McAvennie urged the Championship side to cash in on the Austria international after he spent last season on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.
Leeds signed Wober in January 2023 in a deal that could rise to £14million if certain clauses were met before he joined the Bundesliga side on loan last summer.
Football Insider revealed in April the West Yorkshire club could be forced to sell the 26-year-old if they didn’t achieve promotion back to the top flight.
After Daniel Farke’s side lost to Southampton in the Championship play-off final, reports have suggested they are now looking for a fee in the region of £12.5million for his services.
The centre-back is currently with Austria at the European Championships, having scored an own goal in their 1-0 defeat against France.
Leeds United could sell Max Wober after Borussia Monchengladbach interest
McAvennie believes Leeds could potentially save money on Wober’s wages if they decide to sell him this summer, with Borussia Monchengladbach believed to be keen on landing a permanent deal for his services.
“If he’s not going to be playing and they are getting £12.5million for him, they should take it,” he told Football Insider.
“Sometimes you have got to cut your losses.
“I would sell him now before he scores any more own goals after what happened with Austria. That could be a problem.
“Sometimes transfers work, sometimes they don’t.

“If they can get more than £12million, he’s still got a couple of years left on his contract, so they would be saving a few million on him.
“I would say get rid of him.”
