Sources: Leeds United and Fulham race to sign Aberdeen sensation Lewis Pirie

Leeds United and Fulham are closely monitoring Aberdeen sensation Lewis Pirie, sources have told Football Insider.

Scouts from the two Premier League clubs watched the striker, 15, in action for Scotland Under-16s against their Denmark counterparts on Wednesday night.

He scored and won a penalty in the fixture to further emphasise his reputation as a rising star of Scottish football.

It is believed the talent spotters were blown away by Pirie and are expected to deliver glowing reports to their clubs.

Aberdeen are bracing themselves for strong interest from English clubs in the teenager, who cannot sign professional terms in Scotland until the age of 16.

Pirie will likely line up for Scotland’s Under-16s when they face Denmark again on Sunday (10 September).

Aberdeen’s academy has previously produced the likes of Calvin Ramsay, the 18-year-old right-back who signed for Liverpool for £6.5million in June.

Leeds meanwhile have provided a pathway to the first team for many youngsters in recent years.

Rising stars Joe Gelhardt, Crysencio Summerville and Cody Drameh have all played significant roles for Jesse Marsch’s side this season.

Goalkeeper Marek Rodak, 25, is the only Fulham academy player currently involved with the first team.

Leeds

The Cottagers are currently 10th in the Premier League, behind Leeds on goals scored.

Aberdeen are 3rd in the Scottish Premiership, eight points behind Celtic at the top of the table.
