Leeds United are in the right after £60m Raphinha development – pundit

Raphinha can have no complaints after Leeds United put a £60million price tag on him.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Brazilian’s future.

As reported by The Athletic (3 June), Leeds have set a £60million-plus asking price on the Brazilian’s head after avoiding relegation.

The winger did have a relegation release clause in his terms.

However, the Whites are now able to demand what they want for his capture with Barcelona heavily linked with a move.

McAvennie insists Raphinha can’t complain as Leeds are well within their rights to demand top dollar for their star man.

“I don’t see a problem,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“If Leeds want the money for him and Barcelona want him, go and get him.

“If they don’t have the money, tough. I’m not too concerned about that because Leeds are entitled to ask for whatever they want.

“£60million, in today’s market, that is not pricing him out of a move. I think it is [a bargain], it is not a lot of money.

“If the boy wants to leave then you have to let him go but you have to let the club get the right price for him.”

Raphinha scored 11 goals in 35 games for Leeds United during the 2021-22 season.

His penalty on the final day v Brentford (22 May) helped his side retain their top-flight status.
