Phillips: Leeds backed to sign 'next Bellingham' after update today
Kevin Phillips has backed Leeds United in their pursuit of Birmingham City starlet Amari Miller.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Birmingham and England striker claimed the teenage forward is a “hot prospect”.
Football Insider revealed today (19 June) the Whites are confident of securing the 18-year-old’s services by the beginning of July.
Leeds are in advanced negotiations over a deal and all parties are confident it will be completed in time for pre-season training.
Everton have also been closely monitoring Miller, who featured in five Championship games for Birmingham last term.
It would represent a major coup for Leeds but as an ex-Birmingham player Phillips would be disappointed to see him leave.

He told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs: “It’s unfortunate from a Birmingham point of view.
“They’ve produced some magnificent young players over the years and their academy is very, very good.
“If Leeds are in advanced talks with him then the kid’s a hot prospect.
“If he can follow in the footsteps of Jude Bellingham and Demari Gray, then he will turn out to be a very shrewd signing.
“I would assume they might sign him and then get him back out on loan somewhere. Or, have him for a year to develop then get him out on loan.
“Leeds are obviously looking to the future as well as now.”
Birmingham confirmed last month Miller had been offered professional terms after breaking into the first team at the end of last season.
He ended the campaign with two consecutive league starts after the club confirmed their Championship status.
In other news, Leeds United chief Andrea Radrizzani could land a bargain amid “serious” Italy-based “negotiations”.
