Leeds United braced for multiple Archie Gray bids – expert

Leeds United are going to be tested with bids for Archie Gray if they do not get promoted this season.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham, Leeds and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson claimed the 18-year-old has a big decision to make if the Whites do not make it back into the Premier League.

With six matches remaining, Leeds currently sit second in the league table, one point behind leaders Ipswich Town.

Leicester City meanwhile are just one point behind Daniel Farke’s side in third, with a game in hand over the Whites and the Tractor Boys.

Leeds United set for bids for star man if promotion isn’t secured

If they can achieve promotion this season, Robinson is confident that Gray will stay at Elland Road and be handed a new deal.

Sources told Football Insider (31 March) that Tottenham are among the Premier League clubs in the hunt to sign the 18-year-old.

“He is going to have a big decision to make if Leeds don’t get promoted this season because there are going to be teams that come and test Leeds with a bid,” he told the Inside Track podcast.

“But I think with his family ties, with his age, with the affinity to the club – if the worst happens and Leeds are in the Championship – it’s going to be a question of is another season in the Championship better for his development rather than to move on to a bigger club.

“But hopefully Leeds will be in the Premier League and there won’t be a decision, he’ll get a new contract and rightfully so.

“He needs to be rewarded with the rest of the big earners at the club because he’s certainly up in that bracket.”
