Kieran Maguire: Leeds ‘building up to something’ as five-year agreement struck
Leeds United and San Francisco 49ers look like they are “building up to something” amid the latest developments in the pair’s relationship.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about a potential merchandise tie-in between the teams.
The 49ers own 44 per cent of Leeds after they bought another slice of equity in November, and an agreement for a full takeover is in place for 2024.

The NFL confirmed on Wednesday (15 December) that the 49ers have now chosen the United Kingdom as its official international marketing territory.
This opens the door for “fan engagement and commercialisation” as well as expanding the 49ers’ “global brand”, as per an accompanying statement.
Maguire suggests that an official commercial collaboration could well be on the horizon.
“It does seem like they are building up to something,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“This would really play into the hands of Leeds. First of all, the 49ers themselves are a well-known brand in the NFL.
“Leeds have a high profile already which is growing following promotion to the Premier League.
“This would be a win-win deal for all concerns. The benefits of a commercial and merchandising partnership are plain to see.”

Leeds are currently in freefall in the Premier League after winning just one of their last eight matches.
Marcelo Bielsa, who has emphasised that he is not immune from the sack, will take his team to face Liverpool at Anfield on Boxing Day.
