Kieran Maguire: Leeds United ‘delighted’ as new Raphinha windfall imminent
Leeds United will be “delighted” to see their “former heroes” progress in the World Cup both from a sentimental and financial point of view.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Fifa’s plans to renumerate clubs based on how long they are without their players.
As relayed by the Yorkshire Evening Post on Tuesday (11 October), Leeds will redeive £9,000 per day for for every day each of their players remain with their national team.

Stars who reach the final of the mid-season World Cup in Qatar could bank their clubs as much as £250,000.
The rules also cover any player who has been registered with the club in the last two years, meaning the likes of Raphinha, who joined Barcelona in the summer, could land Leeds a windfall with his involvement for Brazil.
Maguire assessed the regulations and claimed that the Whites will be happy with the news on multiple levels.
“Every little counts,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“In relation to Leeds having financial support from Fifa for the development of players, that will be welcome additional revenue.
“I’m sure there will be people keen for Leeds to spend that money, especially fans.

“Therefore, I suspect Leeds will be dleighted if their players and former heroes progress as far as they can in the competition.
“That is from both a financial point of view and because it adds interest to individual matches.”
