Leeds United employee issues ‘brilliant’ claim after what he’s heard from Bielsa
Noel Whelan has insisted the attitude and character of the Leeds United players cannot be questioned as their relegation worries deepen.
The former Whites striker and club ambassador, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Marcelo Bielsa’s side won’t be feeling sorry for themselves after they were demolished 6-0 by Liverpool on Wednesday night.
Leeds have now shipped 31 goals in their last nine Premier League games and have the worst defensive record in the division as they face getting sucked into the relegation battle.

Whelan is convinced he has seen the “fight” required to avoid relegation this season.
He insisted claimed the Whites players are ready to “fight” and insisted there are “plenty of positives” to take from the last two matches.
“There certainly isn’t anything wrong with the commitment of the Leeds United players,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“That was clear against Man United. The running was there, the hard work, the off-the-ball work, the tackles flying in – it was more like a 90s game at some points.
“I’m not going to question the brilliant attitude or character of this side. We showed at the start of the second half that we really wanted to get something out of the game. But it wasn’t to be.
“Bielsa’s right, from what I heard from him last night, the fight is there. The players know that it’s going to be difficult.
“They know there’s no time to be feeling sorry for yourself.
“There’s certainly plenty of positives to be taking out of that Man United game.”

Leeds United have won just two of their last 11 games.
They are 15th in the table and are now just three points above 18th-placed Burnley, who have two matches in hand.
