Leeds United employee issues ‘brilliant’ Jack Harrison claim

Noel Whelan has heralded the “superpowers” of Jack Harrison at Leeds United after Thursday’s 3-2 win over Wolves.

The former Leeds striker and club ambassador, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted the 25-year-old looked set to take a “back seat” after being dropped by Jesse Marsch.

Harrison, who had been benched versus Norwich, started and scored the Whites’ opener in Friday night’s dramatic win at Molineux.

His return to the side came with Raphinha ruled out due to a positive Covid test.

Whelan hailed Harrison’s impact after seemingly dropping down the pecking order.

“With a new managers, new tactics, new system, tough decisions have to be made. It’s not easy,” Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“You’ve got a string and a handful of fantastic wingers. Your choices are from Raphinha, to Dan James, who gives you that little bit more pace and direct style. He can play through the middle as well.

“You’ve got to look at the interchanging that can happen now with Jesse Marsch and the way he plays his style of football. There are going to be tough decisions.

“There are going to be players that have been starting that might have to sit on the bench and take a back seat for a while. That seemed to be the case with Jack Harrison.

“This is going to be a team game all the way through to the end of the season. Everybody is going to need to bring something, their superpowers, especially if it is not working.

“I mean, what a great player to have to bring in. It’s brilliant.”

Harrison started Marsch’s opening two games in charge of Leeds before dropping to the bench.

He has missed just three of the Whites’ Premier League games this season.
