Leeds United employee issues ‘huge’ Mateusz Klich claim after new reveal

Noel Whelan has insisted there will “always be opportunities” at Leeds United for Mateusz Klich as he looks set to stay at the club.

The former Whites striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed it is “huge” to have the 32-year-old as part of the squad.

As quoted by Leeds Live after the 3-1 defeat of Barnsley on Wednesday (24 August), Marsch revealed Klich is “very committed” to Leeds United and is happy with his role in the squad despite links to a move elsewhere.

The American revealed both he and the midfielder feel his current level of game time is enough to allow him to push to be included in Poland’s squad for the World Cup in November.

Klich scored a brace in the League Cup on Wednesday and has come off the bench in each of Leeds United’s three Premier League games this term.

He is contracted until June 2024.

Whelan hailed the midfielder’s “professionalism and maturity”.

He told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “It’s huge to have him in the squad.

“It’s that togetherness you need – helping each other out. The squad isn’t just the first eleven, there are always opportunities.

“Whether that’s in the cup, off the bench in the league. It’s about keeping everyone happy.

“It shows the professionalism and maturity from Klich that he comes on off the bench in the league but also excels in the cup game as well.

“It can be very easy to take your foot off the gas, but that wasn’t the case. Everyone had the right attitude and desire.”
