Leeds United employee issues ‘massive’ Patrick Bamford claim after injury latest
Noel Whelan has insisted it will be a “massive bonus” for Leeds United to get Patrick Bamford back firing.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker hopes Bamford will be fit by the season restart and able to stay fit for the remainder of the season.
As reported by LeedsLive (5 December), the 29-year-old missed out on the club’s training camp in Spain to undergo surgery on a groin problem.

The procedure is said to have gone well and the striker is now rehabilitating in the UK and is hoped to join back in with training later this month.
The attacked has already missed much of the season due to injury and has played 427 minutes of Premier League football so far this season.
But Whelan is optimistic about Bamford’s return.
“Hopefully Bamford has got these little niggles out the way,” he told Football Insider.
“He has been out of action for nearly a full season now, he has come back within spurts and then picked up another niggly injury.
“I think this period of the World Cup has hopefully given them time to rectify all of these and get him to a place where he is good in his mind and body and participate between now and the end of the season.

“He is a very important cog, there is no centre-forward that can lead the line like he does. We need options and having Bamford back for the rest of the season will be a massive bonus for Leeds United.
“Then hopefully you do not need to look at spending in the January window and can wait until the summer to bring in another centre-forward because they do need options down the middle.“
