Leeds United employee makes ‘next level’ transfer claim as Brenden Aaronson footage emerges
Noel Whelan has insisted the signing of Brenden Aaronson looks set to take Leeds United to “another level” next season.
The former Leeds striker and club ambassador, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 21-year-old looks set to bring a new dimension to the Whites’ midfield.
In footage relayed by Leeds on Twitter (2 June), Aaronson scored the opening goal for the USA in Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Morocco.
The new Elland Road star burst into the box to fire the ball home after Christian Pulisic’s layoff.
Whelan admitted he was excited by what he saw from Aaronson, who joined from RB Salzburg last month.
“We needed that more attack-minded midfield player,” Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“Someone that’s going to be not just brave on the ball but brave in running into positions where he can affect the game with scoring and assisting.
“He seems to relish that part of the game. Not just being that midfield player that can dictate play and find the passes, but he’s someone that is really desperate to affect the game by getting on the scoresheet as well.
“I think that’s exactly what we missed. We saw it a little bit more from Mateusz Klich in the first season in the Premier League and definitely in the Championship.

“But he seems and looks like another level above. That’s why we’ve got into the market to bring him in. He’s very easy on the eye, he seems to choose the right passes at the right time.
“I think you need that sort of player. He really does good like a really good acquisition right now for Leeds.”
