Leeds United employee salutes Crysencio Summerville development after what he’s just seen
Noel Whelan has insisted there is “loads to come” from Leeds United starlet Crysencio Summerville after goals in back-to-back Premier League games.
The former Whites striker and club ambassador, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted his first senior strikes will do the 21-year-old the “world of good” in his development.
Summerville backed up his goal against Fulham on 23 October by scoring the decider in a 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday (29 October).
The Netherlands Under-21 international penned a fresh four-year deal at Elland Road during the off-season to put speculation on his future to bed.
The winger, who has been handed the number 10 shirt this term, made his first top-flight start against Leicester last month in a clear sign that he has graduated from the Whites’ youth development programme.
Whelan claimed the former Feyenoord ace has shown he can “contribute” and be an “asset” for Jesse Marsch this term.
When asked if Summerville can have a crucial role for Leeds United this season, he told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Absolutely.
“We felt that at the end of last season, as well. We all knew what a good player we had on our hands.
“He’s come to the end of his development and scholarship with the Under-23s. Then it’s all about contributing and being an asset in the Premier League.
“He’s proved that he can do just that. He got his first goal against Fulham and he’s backed that up with an even bigger goal against Liverpool.

“There’s loads to come from Summerville. These goals have probably done him the world of good and helped him feel a lot more settled in the Premier League.
“He should take that confidence and belief into the coming games.”
