Leeds United employee shares ‘excellent’ Tyler Adams claim as new details emerge

Noel Whelan has hailed Tyler Adams’ performance as Leeds United recorded a famous 3-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday (21 August).

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, compared the 23-year-old’s display to the qualities of departed fan favourite Kalvin Phillips.

As per LUFCDATA (21 August), Adams made five ball recoveries, won six duels, and made three interceptions during Sunday’s win.

As quoted by Leeds Live post-match, manager Jesse Marsch insisted the midfielder is playing “the best football of his life” but insisted he can get “better and better” this term.

Adams, who joined Leeds United for a reported £20million earlier this summer, has played under Marsch at both Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig.

Whelan also hailed the impact of fellow summer signing Marc Roca in the Whites’ midfield.

He told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “The whole team deserves a lot of credit.

“But looking at that midfield and how we dominated. Tyler Adams is stepping up and doing the horrible side of the game, the running and the hard work that Kalvin used to do.

“He’s taken up that mantle, and he was fantastic on Sunday – absolutely excellent.

“Roca as well – he goes a little bit unnoticed at times, but he was doing that defensive job.

“Pound for pound we matched Chelsea, got in their faces, and didn’t let them settle for one second.”

Leeds United

Leeds United outran the Blues by more than 10km throughout Sunday’s clash.

The Whites sit second in the Premier League after winning two of their first three top-flight games this term.
