Leeds United employee shares verdict on Luis Sinisterra starting v Brighton after what he’s seen
Noel Whelan has claimed Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch won’t be tempted to change a winning side vs Brighton on Saturday (27 August) despite Luis Sinisterra’s impressive cup display.
The former Whites striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the American could name an unchanged side for the trip to the Amex Stadium.
Sinisterra, 23, made his full Leeds United debut in the 3-1 League Cup win over Barnsley on Wednesday (24 August), scoring a long-range curler and winning a spot-kick to stake his claim for a first-choice Premier League berth.
Speaking before Saturday’s match and quoted by Leeds Live, Marsch refused to commit to starting the Colombia international but insisted he is ready to use the winger “in a big role”.
Sinisterra, who cost the Elland Road club a reported £21million last month, notched 23 goals and 14 assists in 49 Feyenoord appearances last term.
Whelan hailed his impact after looking “slightly off the pace” from the bench during the 3-0 win over Chelsea last week.
He told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “It was a fantastic performance from Sinisterra,”
“Those are the kinds of performances you need to be putting in if you’re looking to get that opportunity in the league.
“When he came on against Chelsea he looked slightly off the pace. It wasn’t glaring, but he was just missing that edge you need in the Premier League.

“I think it’d be very difficult for Jesse Marsch to change a winning side which did so well against Chelsea. Everyone excelled and put a shift in – so I don’t see any changes there.
“It’s another plus point to have Sinisterra putting in a performance like that – showing that he’s ready to go.”
