Leeds United employee thrilled by what he’s seen from Luis Sinisterra – ‘it’s big’
Noel Whelan has hailed Leeds United new boy Luis Sinisterra after his latest goal during the loss against Brentford.
The former Whites striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 23-year-old has already become a “big part” of Jesse Marsch’s side since joining this summer.
Sinisterra scored a stunning solo effort during Leeds United’s 5-2 away defeat against Brentford on Saturday (3 September).
The Colombia international has now scored on each of his three starts for the Elland Road club since signing from Feyenoord for a reported €25million (£21.4million) in July.
All three strikes have come from outside the area.
Sinisterra registered 23 goals in 49 appearances for Feyenoord last season to earn his move to the Premier League with Leeds United needing a replacement for talisman Raphinha.
Whelan insisted the winger’s League Cup debut against Barnsley last month has provided the platform for his goal-laden start.
He told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “It’s another goal from outside the box.
“He’s already scored against Barnsley in the cup and against Everton, and now he’s followed that up with another fantastic finish.
“Goals breed confidence. The start in the cup just gave him that belief, confidence, and match fitness – and he’s really become a big part of this side.
“He’s showing trust in his own ability at the moment and it’s great to see.”

Leeds United sit ninth in the Premier League after winning two of their opening six games in the 2022-23 campaign.
The Whites face Nottingham Forest next Monday (12 September).
