‘Leeds United expected to win promotion’ after £10m+ deal agreed – Stefan Borson
Leeds United will be expected to secure promotion back to the Premier League within the next five years after agreeing a new deal with Adidas.
That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the structure of the deal is likely to be centred around the West Yorkshire giants returning to the top flight.
Leeds agreed an initial five-year deal with Adidas ahead of their first season back in the Premier League in 2020.
In what was a record-breaking deal for the club, they are understood to have earned around £10million per season.
Leeds confirmed on 30 October they have now agreed an extension to their partnership with the German manufacturer.
Borson told Football Insider the club are still likely to earn £10million a year from the deal despite failing to secure promotion back to the Premier League.
Daniel Farke’s side currently sit second in the Championship table after enjoying a strong start to the new season.
Leeds United deal to be centred around promotion
“I suspect that Leeds sell a decent amount of kit, even in the Championship,” Borson told Football Insider.
“On top of that, there is the Red Bull situation, which I think Adidas will look at it and see a kind of underpinning of the likely progress at the club over the next few years.
“They probably think one way or another over the next five years Leeds are likely to be back in the Premier League.
“Therefore, the structure of the deal should accommodate that.
“We know Adidas are making a very big push to capture quite a lot of football right now.

“The Liverpool deal will be an extremely large deal, and you have got the new Man United deal, which we know from their accounts is a £90million-a-year deal.
“We also know about the Newcastle deal that came in this season. Adidas are making a big push.
“I suspect the numbers are still quite aggressive for Leeds, even as a Championship side.”
