Leeds United fan uproar: Keith Wyness shares verdict after ‘big’ twist
Leeds United have confirmed season ticket prices for the 2025-26 campaign with some supporters facing a 14 per cent rise on this term.
The increase is the third in 12 years and will see the base cost of a season ticket at Elland Road rise to £495.
Lord John Mann, chairman of the Leeds United Supporters Club, has said fans will be “be a bit annoyed” if the Whites fail to gain promotion.
Daniel Farke’s side sit second in the Championship and are level on points with third-place Burnley with seven games remaining of this season.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has had his say on potential “major uproar” among the Leeds faithful.
Wyness drops ‘cynical’ verdict on Leeds price rise
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed the increase will not affect support – as the club know the fans are very faithful and will want to keep their seat in the event of promotion.
Leeds don’t face Sheffield United or Burnley in the run-in while the other sides in the top three will play each other on 21 April.
Position | Team | Played | Points | GD |
1 | Sheffield United | 39 | 83 | 27 |
2 | Leeds United | 39 | 81 | 51 |
3 | Burnley | 39 | 81 | 42 |
Wyness claimed Leeds are “right” to increase prices as they chase better commercial results.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “With the season ticket prices, this comes back to something I’ve said many times.
“I believe it’s better to have a small increase every year, rather than waiting and having to do a big increase.
“From what I understand, there have been three increases in season ticket prices in the last 12 years.
“It hasn’t been very often at all, so you end up having to put them up a lot.
“I think they are right to do it, they’ve got to get the numbers up on the commercial side.
“They will know the fans want to be assured of the season ticket if they stay up, to be cynical, and they know the fans are very faithful.
“I don’t think this is going to impact support very much. From what I’ve seen, the prices are still low.
“I don’t think there will be major uproar about this.
“There will be discussion about the cancelling of some concessions, which may bring some issues – but I think this increase will go ahead.”

Farke facing new sack threat at Leeds
Football Insider has been told by industry source Mick Brown (24 March) that Leeds will sack Farke if they fail to achieve promotion from the Championship for a second consecutive season.
He had come under pressure following last season’s playoff final defeat to Southampton, but the Leeds players remained behind the boss and he was handed a second chance.
The expectation of the board this season is that he leads them to promotion this time around.
