Kieran Maguire salutes Leeds as new deal will ‘delight’ fans

Leeds United fans will be delighted their club is retaining its links to local businesses.

So says finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the club announced a new deal with Boost on 20 August.

Boost, a Leeds-based energy drinks company, will advertise at Elland Road and form a retail partnership with the club through the 2021-22 season.

Leeds have already partnered with local e-commerce platform BOXT this summer.

And Maguire insists that the fans will be pleased to see Leeds are keeping things local despite Marcelo Bielsa’s side’s international acclaim.

“I think it tends to go down better with the Elland Rod faithful,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“They want Leeds United to be representative of the local area. They are more likely to pick up some local business on the back of that.

“It’s likely that new sponsors will have access to boxes at Elland Road as part of the deal. They will be able to entertain clients.

“They can also say, with justifiable pride, that they are supporting their football club which has made such an impression on the Premier League.

“It’s a symbiotic relationship. You can see the commercial benefits off the back of that.

“So I think Leeds are a winner because there is a danger of clubs being seen as chasing any dollar rather than having a local connection.

“The chances are the local business will pick up trade and deals off the back of that.

“Many other businesses in the locality will also be Leeds fans and they’ll be delighted with this.”
