Kieran Maguire: Leeds United generating ‘worldwide attention’ as new deal agreed

Leeds United are an attractive prospect to potential new commercial partners because of the “worldwide attention” they generate.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the West Yorkshire club’s expanded new deal with Astonish.

The Whites have been partnered with the household and cleaning products brand for six years.

They announced last Wednesday (6 July) that the deal has now been widened to include training kit sponsorship rights in a one-year arrangement.

The news came before Leeds also confirmed that global e-commerce brand Wish would be their sleeve sponsor for the 2022-23 campaign.

Maguire explained that the club’s global footprint makes them an enticing sponsorship opportunity.

“Astonish will be very happy with the uptick they have received because of their relationship with Leeds,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“They will be better reaching their target demographic and will want to extend that. Leeds are in the Premier League and get worldwide attention as a result.

“The training kit is one way they can capitalise on that. It delivers eyeballs onto your product and that is what sponsors want.

Astonish will have to pay appropriately to be associated with the badge but I am sure they are willing to do so.”

Leeds generated £36million in commercial income in 2020-21, the most recent financial year on record.

Jesse Marsch’s side begin their 2022-23 campaign at home to Wolves on 6 August.
