‘Leeds United have agreed Daniel Farke termination fee after sack latest’

Leeds United are set to decide on the future of manager Daniel Farke after securing promotion back to the Premier League.

The Yorkshire giants suffered play-off heartache last season in the final against Southampton, but they have gone one better this time after securing automatic promotion.

Leeds are well placed to claim the Championship title as they have a game in hand and a superior goal difference over Burnley, who currently hold a three-point lead at the top of the table.

Elland Road chiefs are understood to be considering Farke’s future after questions have been asked about his top-flight record, having previously been relegated with Norwich City.

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the German manager likely agreed a fixed termination fee when he joined the club in 2023 on a deal until 2027.

Football Insider revealed on 25 April Jose Mourinho, Steven Gerrard and Lee Carsley are on Leeds’ shortlist if they decide to part ways with Farke.

Leeds could sack Daniel Farke after 30 June

Borson revealed Leeds would likely want to sack Farke after the current accounting period ends on 30 June due to their profit and sustainability (PSR) position.

He told Football Insider: “You would think he would get a reasonable pay-off.

“I think most of these guys have got effectively fixed payments in the event that the club chooses to remove them, so they’ll know what it costs.

“They haven’t got a lot of leeway from PSR for 2024-25. I doubt that the key driver is PSR as to whether they keep Farke or not.

“I suspect if they’re going to do it, they will want to do it in the next financial year.

“But that’s going to be really difficult to make that decision after 30 June.

“It feels like a tough situation to sack a manager after they’ve just got promotion.

“The story must have come from somewhere.”

Phillips is set to return to Manchester City at the end of this season after spending the campaign with Ipswich Town, who have been relegated from the top flight.

The midfielder is under contract at the Etihad until June 2028, but it’s believed Pep Guardiola doesn’t see him in his plans moving forward.
