Medical insider: Leeds United have ‘dodged a bullet’ amid ‘massive’ Rodrigo Moreno news
Rodrigo Moreno’s setback is “massively disappointing” for Leeds United – but it could have been much worse had surgery been required.
That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.
Rodrigo, 31, started the season in fine form with four goals and an assist in six outings.

But the Spanish attacker was forced off with a shoulder injury 30 minutes into Leeds’ 1-1 draw with Everton last Tuesday (30 August).
As quoted by club media last Thursday (1 September), Jesse Marsch revealed that the injury will not require surgery.
Dinnery claims that, although Rodrigo will now likely be out until after the international break, an operation would have seen him sidelined for far longer.
“Jesse Marsch came in and identified Rodrigo as a talent,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“He came in, gave him the arm around the shoulder, gave him the armband for a bit. I think he really benefitted from that.
“Leeds aren’t blessed with massive amounts of money. So, there was a need to identify internally who could address those goalscoring problems, and Rodrigo ticketed a lot of those boxes.
“Unfortunately, this setback is massively disappointing. But in the grand scheme of things, could it have been a lot worse? Absolutely. They have dodged a bullet in some respects.

“It will be treated conservatively and there will be no surgery required. That in itself will have a real positive impact on the timeline.
“The initial timeline was after the international break, maybe game week nine or 10.”
