Leeds hit by another ‘huge’ blow after five-player update – pundit

Leeds United have been hit with a “huge” blow after a triple injury blow was confirmed, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender admitted it was a “concern” Patrick Bamford, Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper have all picked up similar injuries.

Leeds confirmed in a statement yesterday (9 December) the trio all picked up hamstring injuries during the 2-2 draw with Brentford last weekend (5 December).

Marcelo Bielsa revealed in his pre-Chelsea press conference that they are “injuries in the tendons, not in the fibre of the muscle”.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo is set for a period on the sidelines with a heel concern and Robin Koch is unavailable after suffering from an illness over the last 10 days.

“There is a concern,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“You start to think why? Is it just unlucky? It could well be just one of those things where it’s a coincidence.

“Is it down to load and training? Only the sports science guys and coaches will know that.

“Most importantly, it’s just a huge disappointment that they are out because they are key individuals who have a huge impact on the team.

“Without them, it makes things all a little bit more difficult.”

Bamford’s goalscoring return against Brentford was his first Premier League appearance since the middle of September.

Cooper and Phillips has long been the spine of Bielsa’s side and they have only won two of 12 Premier League games without Phillips since the start of last season.
