Leeds United news: Agbonlahor lambasts ‘pathetic’ Patrick Bamford as charge confirmed – ‘Like my three-year-old’

Patrick Bamford was “pathetic” in his attempts to win a penalty as Leeds United lost 1-0 to Arsenal last weekend (16 October), according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker compared Bamford’s actions to those of his three-year-old child.

As shown on the BBC’s Match of the Day 2 programme, at the very end of the game, Leeds were awarded a penalty for Gabriel’s challenge on the 29-year-old.

Arsenal

Gabriel was also shown a red card before the referee reviewed the footage on the pitchside monitor and overturned his original decision.

The FA confirmed on Thursday (20 October) that Arsenal have been charged with failing to control their players as they protested to the referee after his original decision.

“I feel Bamford pushed Gabriel first, that was never a red card or a penalty,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Bamford was pathetic the way he fell to the floor. My three-year-old, four-year-old would not fall to the floor like Bamford did.

“Leeds did well in the game. Elland Road will always be a tough place to go, especially for the big sides where the fans get on side, the players get on side.

“For me, it’s more a pat on the back for Arsenal. They got through the game, they dug deep.”

Leeds

Leeds lost 2-0 to Leicester City on Thursday (20 October) to extend their winless run in the Premier League to seven games.

They go into Sunday’s (23 October) game with Fulham in 16th place and are only out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has revealed Leeds United will be “delighted” as a new Raphinha windfall is imminent.
