Leeds United news: Danny Mills baffled by ‘bizarre’ Patrick Bamford update

Danny Mills has been left baffled by Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford’s latest injury.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender reacted to Bamford’s “bizarre” new injury.

Leeds announced last Sunday (27 March) that Bamford, 29, has ruptured his plantar fascia after struggling with the foot injury all season.

Head of Medicine and Performance Rob Price stressed that the striker now needs a “period of rest and rehabilitation to allow his body to recover.”

Speaking to Sky Sports on Thursday (31 March), Bamford confessed he “almost forced” himself to play through the injury to “help the team”.

Mills insists Bamford is “incredibly unfortunate” to pick up this kind of injury.

It’s a disappointing one for Patrick, strange injury,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“With the plantar fascia that’s normally an overuse injury. That’s the sort of injury a runner gets.

“That’s what happens when you run for miles, pounding the streets, mile after mile.

“It’s not really a common injury in football, especially when you strain or snap it which is what seems to have happened here.

“That’s incredibly unfortunate and slightly bizarre, I just hope he’s back as soon as possible and we get to see him before the end of the season.”
