Leeds United news: Elland Road should be partially closed after ‘extraordinary’ news in last 24 hours – pundit
Gabby Agbonlahor has called on the FA to close parts of Elland Road after a fan hit Anthony Elanga with a coin as Man United beat Leeds United 4-2 on Sunday (20 February).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Leeds need a “massive punishment” as the current processes are not enough.
ESPN reported yesterday (21 February) the FA may force the club to close sections of Elland Road after a number of incidents in the fiery Roses derby.
Nine fans were arrested and the FA are awaiting referee Paul Tierney’s “extraordinary report” on the controversies.
The worst of which came when Elanga was struck by a coin after celebrating scoring Man United’s fourth goal of the afternoon.
“Fans see the punishment that other fans get and think they can get away with it.
“If there’s a massive punishment they might not do it. Whoever did that, the Leeds fan, needs to be identified and banned for life.
“100 per cent, I would close stands in stadiums, the stand where it happened.
“There needs to be a bigger punishment because one day, one of these footballers is going to be hit in the eye and they are going to be out for a season with an eye socket problem.
“There needs to be a bigger punishment and Leeds need to be punished, definitely.”

Leeds have not won any of the four games they have played against Man United since their return to the Premier League last season.
They currently sit in 15th, just five points above the relegation zone.
