Leeds United news: Jesse Marsch has already fixed Bielsa ‘problem’ after what I’ve seen and heard – pundit
Jesse Marsch has already fixed some of the tactical “problems” Leeds United suffered under Marcelo Bielsa, according to Alan Hutton.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland international insisted the Argentine’s “man-to-man coverage” was a major issue defensively.
As quoted by Leeds Live days after his appointment (3 March), Marsch revealed an “adjustment of tactics” was his “number one” priority after taking charge.

Speaking after the 1-0 defeat to Leicester City (5 March), he admitted he had “changed a lot of tactical topics”, highlighting the importance of the “counter-press and play in the transition”.
Hutton admitted he was impressed with what he has seen and heard from the American so far.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I could see the problem. Leeds had conceded 60 goals in the league, it was there for everybody to see. It’s not hard.
“I think what’s good about Jesse Marsch coming in is his background. His philosophy, his way of playing is similar to Bielsa.
“What I took from interviews and things was he would tweak the man-to-man coverage which didn’t work. It was a thing that I was against, most people were against it apart from Bielsa.
“You could see it was more zonal, they were closing down in packs and recovering back into their positions where they should be. That’s normal.
“Footballers can take to that quite quickly because that’s what they’re used to. So although ended in defeat, you could still see positive signs. He’s just stepped through the door.

“It’s going to take him time to get everybody on the same wavelength. The only problem is, does he have that time?”
Leeds currently sit 16th with 11 games left to play.
In other news, pundit claims one Leeds United star will be a “Championship player” next season.
