Leeds United news: Mills issues Aston Villa verdict after early team news
Leeds United are set to play Aston Villa at the very worst time, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England full-back claimed Aston Villa are on an upward trajectory after a busy transfer window under Steven Gerrard.
The Midlands giants are up to 11th in the Premier League table and added Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Digne and Callum Chambers in the January window.
In contrast, Leeds are four places and four points behind them and did not add a senior player to the squad last month.
Marcelo Bielsa confirmed on Monday (7 February), via Leeds Live, he will be without Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips, Patrick Bamford and Junior Firpo for the trip to Aston Villa.
They travel to Everton on Saturday (12 February) after their visit to Villa Park on Wednesday.
“Leeds’ fixtures coming up are not easy,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Villa, the way they are going, the signings they have brought in, they are on an upward trajectory. Especially with the manager coming in.
“Again, it’s going to be a difficult game, I would say. It’s certainly not going to be easy.
“If you look at the next couple of games it’s going to be touch and go and it’s going to be tight.
“They’re going to have to put in some performances and some back-to-back performances which is what they have really struggled with this season so far.
“They put in a couple of very good performances but they’ve got to back it up.”

Aston Villa ran out 2-1 winners last time the two clubs met in the Premier League (27 February 2021).
Leeds won 3-0 at Villa Park earlier in the previous season thanks to a Patrick Bamford hat-trick.
