Leeds United news: Mills issues ‘devastating’ verdict after confirmed news
Jesse Marsch needs to get off to a good start as Leeds United manager against Leicester City as another heavy defeat will be “devastating”, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender delivered his verdict ahead of Marsch’s first game in charge of the club after replacing Marcelo Bielsa on Monday (28 February).
Leeds travel to Leicester tomorrow lunchtime (5 March) looking to end a run of four consecutive Premier League defeats.
They have conceded 17 goals in that time and have slipped to just x points above the relegation zone.
As quoted by Leeds Live yesterday (3 March), Marsch admitted Saturday’s opponents would be “very, very difficult” to play against but he will “modify” the side’s tactics from Bielsa.
He added that he loved the fight and hard work of Bielsa’s side that surprised everybody in the Premier League last season.
“Marsch needs to get off to a decent start,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Even if the result doesn’t go Leeds’ way they need to show they can compete, be more solid and stay in the game.
“They cannot afford to be beaten 3-0 or 4-0, that’s devastating.”

Leeds and Leicester played out a 1-1 draw when the side’s met at Elland Road earlier on in the season with Raphinha and Harvey Barnes the goalscorers.
Last season, the Whites won 3-1 at the King Power Stadium thanks to goals from Stuart Dallas, Patrick Bamford and Jack Harrison.
