Leeds United news: Pundit baffled by decision that has left Whites ‘in trouble’
Frank McAvennie insists Leeds United could get relegated from the Premier League this season.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists the Whites need to start winning soon.
Leeds lost 3-0 to Everton on Saturday (12 February), leaving them six points off the relegation zone.
This came after Marcelo Bielsa told the BBC on Wednesday (9 February) that it is “impossible” to tell when Patrick Bamford could return from his latest injury blow.
The Whites now face Man United, Liverpool and Tottenham in their next three games.
McAvennie fancies Leeds’ chances of staying up once their “big players” return but admitted he is worried about the club’s situation
“You do worry for Leeds,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“They aren’t winning games and they don’t look the same team as last season.
“I do think there are three teams worse than them but I think they could have done with a new face or two in January.
“I really don’t know why they didn’t sign someone, I think that can put you in trouble.
“They have Bamford and Phillips to come back as well and they are two of their big players.
“You never know in the Premier League though, they aren’t safe in my opinion.
“They need some wins on the board with Newcastle on the up.”

According to Football Insider medical expert Ben Dinnery (11 February), Bamford may be suffering from plantar fasciitis – a stubborn inflammation of the foot.
The Leeds United striker has played just six times this season, scoring twice.
