Leeds United news: Pundit drops ‘incredible’ prediction after what he’s just seen

Leeds United will be promoted this season by finishing in an automatic spot.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic and West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie was adamant that Daniel Farke’s side will avoid the playoffs after their “incredible” run of form.

After their emphatic 2-0 away win against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday afternoon (17 February), the Whites are now unbeaten in their last 11 games in all competitions and have won their last eight Championship clashes.

Their excellent performances and wins have allowed them to edge two points ahead of Southampton into second place in the table, but the Saints do have a game in hand.

Leeds United are flying high in the Championship and Frank McAvennie thinks they are set to return to the Premier League

McAvennie was full of praise for the Yorkshire giants, especially considering the level of opposition they have beaten in recent weeks.

“Their confidence is sky-high at the moment,” he told Football Insider.

“I can tell you this, they’ll win automatic promotion, that’s for sure.

“People say it’s great to get promoted through the playoffs, but you’d rather be watching that final having already gone up than play it.

“They say it’s the best way to get back to the Premier League, but why would you want to put yourself through that when you can get it automatically?

“It’s incredible because it’s one game that you can lose, so I’d rather see them do up automatically.

“Eight wins out of eight – that’s amazing.

“It’s been against good teams, not relegation teams.

“Momentum breeds confidence and players will try things they don’t normally try.”
