Leeds United news: Pundit issues Bielsa quit claim as era comes to an end amid Carragher ‘exclusive’

It is the “beginning of the end” for Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict after Leeds’ 6-0 hammering by Liverpool last night (23 February).

That result extends the Whites’ winless run to five games and they have conceded 17 goals in that time, including 10 in their previous two fixtures.

The Telegraph reported earlier this month (17 February) Jesse Marsch is the club’s first-choice to replace Bielsa if he quits this summer.

Marsch refused to rule out a move to Elland Road to American broadcaster CBS Sports on Tuesday in an interview with Jamie Carragher on Tuesday (22 February).

“It does feel like the beginning of the end for Bielsa,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Last season they were so good, they surprised so many teams but this season they’ve been worked out.

“A lot of teams are matching them up for aggression and they’ve been found out.

“Look at Manchester United, they matched them up for work rate and beat them because they’ve got better players.

“Bielsa hasn’t been spending the money. He’s a stubborn manager in the transfer market. The club hasn’t got the funds to give him big money to spend.

“He might see it as ‘You know what, I’ve got them to the Premier League, I’ve kept them up for two seasons, that’s my job done’.

“It’s the beginning of the end for Bielsa and he’s probably done the best that he can with that team.”
