Leeds United news: Pundit raises new Patrick Bamford injury fears after what he’s ‘heard’ pre-Wolves

Alex McLeish has warned Patrick Bamford’s game time must still be managed at Leeds United ahead of Friday’s visit to Wolves.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland manager admitted the 28-year-old’s “playing style” puts him at added “risk” of suffering a setback.

Speaking at his press conference today (17 March), Jesse Marsch revealed Bamford was “sore” after starting the 2-1 win over Norwich but had “come out of it in a good way”.

He revealed the striker “should be ready” for Friday night’s clash at Molineux.

McLeish hailed Marsch for only giving Bamford 45 minutes and suggested he should feature for longer against Wolves.

McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I’ve heard Jesse Marsch talking and it was a wise decision (taking him off at halftime) due to the fact it was very demanding.

“Patrick Bamford’s style of play puts the demands on himself. The last thing you want to see is him hurtling off in the second half with another strain.

“When you’re a guy who’s been out for that length of time, your muscles are always at risk if you do the overkill.

“I would expect more. It’ll be a case of building, it depends on how he feels. Possibly, it will be down to the individual himself. If he says to the coach at halftime: ‘I’m feeling great, don’t take me off for the second half.’

“But there might be an agreement between the two of them. This is where communication must be at the forefront.”

Bamford has played just eight times in the Premier League this season.

He has netted twice for the Whites so far this term.

In other news, pundit claims Leeds United have avoided “big blow” in “massive” training ground verdict.
