Leeds United news: Pundit taken aback by ‘crazy’ Daniel Farke latest – ‘He is in the running’
Daniel Farke is “definitely in the conversation” to be crowned Championship Manager of the Season – but only if he earns Leeds United promotion back to the Premier League.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton hailed the German for his “fantastic” first half of the season with the Yorkshire giants.
Following a shaky start to the campaign, Farke has guided the Whites to a 10-game unbeaten run in all competitions and a 16-game unbeaten road at Elland Road.
Leeds’ recent 4-0 thrashing of Swansea City on Tuesday (13 February) meant the club moved two points clear into the automatic promotion spots ahead of Southampton, who have one game in hand.

While Hutton warned that the “excellent” Saints remain Leeds’ main promotion threat, he tipped Farke to be a heavy favourite to win the award if he does get Leeds back to the Premier League.
“He is definitely in the conversation for Manager of the Season,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s gone 16 games at home unbeaten and 10 unbeaten in a row, so they’re on a crazy run of form.
“It’s just about if he can keep it going.
“If they can, then they can make a real push for second place.
“Southampton have been excellent this season, so it’s going to be difficult.
“But that’s who they’re in the race with at this moment in time.
“If they get promotion through the play-offs or get that second spot, he will be in the running to win best manager.
“He’s done an excellent job and has a great squad.
“Yes, you have to be tactically aware and pick the right teams, but he can only do so much.
“It’s up to the team to go and perform after that.
“Overall, it’s been a fantastic season so far.”
