Leeds United news: ‘Something is building’ in dressing room after ‘unbelievable’ development – pundit
Leeds United will push league leaders Leicester City “to the wire” in the Championship title race.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa and Rangers defender Alan Hutton claimed the Whites’ “unbelievable” win against the Foxes on Friday (23 February) gives them a chance of securing what appears weeks ago to be an unexpected title.
Late goals from Connor Roberts and Patrick Bamford as well as a Wout Faes own goal secured a huge 3-1 win at Elland Road which put Leeds just six points from the top.
Manager Daniel Farke has spearheaded a remarkable run of form in the league after winning their last nine games in a row.
Leeds United have a real chance of winning the Championship over Leicester City, according to Alan Hutton
Their next four clashes are all against sides 19th or below, providing them the ideal chance to continue their “incredible” run.
Hutton suggested that with both Ipswich Town and Southampton dropping points in recent weeks and Leeds’ continuing momentum, they look set to provide a real threat to Enzo Maresca’s side.
“The title race is definitely on,” he told Football Insider.
“They’ve cut it down to six points now and we all thought Leicester were going to run away with it.
“Them getting the early goal, you’re thinking that it’s not going to be Leeds’ day.
“But they showed character and showed a great fight and determination.
“Three late goals, but they went all the way to the end and you could hear the crowd and atmosphere that was there.
“It was unbelievable – you feel that something is building in the dressing room.
“The momentum is there and they’ve been on an incredible run.
“In the Championship, that’s exactly what you need.
“It’s tight with Ipswich still there and Southampton having a bit of a blip.

“But Leeds are in a really good position and are chasing Leicester all the way.
“It will go down to the wire.”
