Leeds United news: This may be real reason for Patrick Bamford injury woes – Mills

Danny Mills suspects last season’s exerts are to blame for Patrick Bamford’s injury troubles at Leeds United this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Whites and England defender also pointed the finger at the 28-year-old’s injury record when discussing his latest setback.

The centre-forward limped off after just 23 minutes of Leeds United’s dramatic win at Wolves on Friday.

As quoted by Leeds Live post-match (19 March), Jesse Marsch revealed his staff do not believe the injury “too bad”.

Bamford has endured a torrid time with injuries this season.

Ankle and hamstring problems have limited the striker to just nine Premier League appearances.

Phillips fears Bamford has been neglecting parts of his body when focusing on his recovery.

“His injury record in the past hasn’t been brilliant,” he told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.

“Maybe the intensity of last season played on his body a little bit. Now he is picking up injuries one after the other.

“When you are injured you tend to focus on the part of the body that is injured. You neglect other parts of your body and that can lead to other injuries because there is a weakness.”

Bamford played in all 38 of Leeds United’s league games in the 2020-21 campaign and contributed an impressive 17 goals and eight assists.

He has contributed just two goals and two assists this term.
