Leeds United players asking Jesse Marsch ‘What are you doing here?’ as ‘very, very odd’ footage emerges – pundit

The Leeds United players will have been baffled by Jesse Marsch’s team huddle after their 1-0 defeat to Leicester City at the weekend (5 March).

That is the view of ex-Aston Villa and England forward Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Marsch’s “very, very odd” behaviour at the King Power.

After a much-improved performance, the American gathered his players together for a huddle before showing their appreciation to the travelling fans, as shown in footage relayed by Men In Blazers on Twitter.

As quoted by Leeds Live after the game, Marsch revealed he told his players that the performance was a “big step in the right direction”.

Asked for his verdict on the post-match scenes, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It was like an American college coach trying to get a load of kids into the centre-circle.

“The players weren’t having it, the players’ body language sort of said ‘What are you doing here?’

“It wasn’t the right moment. I’ve seen players have huddles after they’ve been in a cup final and they’ve lost or after the last games of the season.

“You’ve lost to Leicester, you’ve played very well, just do it in the changing rooms.

“It was very, very odd for me and I’m sure the players are feeling the same. Very, very strange.”

Leeds United

Leeds’ defeat at Leicester leaves them just two points above Burnley in 17th-place who have a game in hand.

The Whites are next in action on Thursday (11 March) when they host Aston Villa.
