Kieran Maguire: Leeds United windfall imminent after latest – ‘this sends out a message’

Leeds United can use their new stadium network technology to directly message fans at Elland Road in order to amplify commercial promotions.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Leeds’ new deal with Allied Telesis.

The networking infrastructure firm announced last Thursday (18 August) that they had struck a deal to provide solutions at Elland Road and Thorp Arch.

Allied Telesis will provide secure network connection throughout both facilities which aim to improve both the fan experience and Leeds’ business environment.

Maguire explained how exactly the West Yorkshire club can take advantage of the new technology to drive profits.

“We are in 2022 and there is an expectation that you can deliver desirables rather than just essentials,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“Also, from the club’s point of view, it does provide unique opportunities.

“Let’s say Rodrigo scores the winning goal in the next home game, you could send out a message to fans that anyone who buys a shirt between will get his name on it for free between now and 6.00pm.

“So, you can see the benefits from a marketing point of view. The club would also like fans to be able to order catering products in advance. You could just scan a QR code to pick things up. That would increase revenues.

“You’re always looking for a win-win deal, and there is no downside here. That cost will be recovered very quickly through increased revenue streams.”
