Leeds stars will be unhappy ‘behind closed doors’ after Phillips reveal – pundit

Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested the Leeds United squad are unhappy behind the scenes with Marcelo Bielsa’s tactics.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict after Kalvin Phillips essentially admitted they have been found out by their opponents this season.

Phillips told the Daily Mail last Thursday (23 December) Premier League clubs now “know how to play against us”.

That has been reflected in Leeds’ results this season as they languish just five points above the relegation zone.

“Every person in the world who watches Leeds can see they have been found out,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Listen, Kalvin Phillips will understand it as well. Kalvin Phillips has played in England sides where the tactics change for each game and he’s not left marking three players on his own in central midfield. He wasn’t going man-to-man with Federico Chiesa against Italy in the European Championship final.

“You have to go into each game trying to win it but in the right way, not just going man-to-man all over the pitch.

“You can do that if your Man City because man-for-man you’re probably better all over the pitch.

“The way that Leeds play, they’ve been found out. For Kalvin Phillips to say that it probably shows that the players are frustrated behind closed doors.”

Leeds United

Phillips is currently sidelined with injury and Leeds have a poor record without him.

The Whites have lost 12 of the 15 Premier League games he has not played since the beginning of last season.

In other news, Leeds United have been tipped to agree a big-money ‘release clause’ as new talks are reported in the last 48 hours.
