Leeds United tipped for ‘complete overhaul’ this summer as ‘next level’ prediction made – pundit

Leeds United will look to completely overhaul their squad this summer.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about whether the Whites will spend big in the summer transfer window.

Speaking on TalkSPORT (26 April), Simon Jordan suggested Leeds could invest £100million into the playing squad this summer.

The club is still in a relegation fight following their 4-0 loss to Man City on Saturday (30 April).

McAvennie insists Leeds will have more freedom to operate in the transfer market without Marcelo Bielsa at the club.

“Well, Leeds have the majority of the same squad that got them promoted and there is no depth there at all,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They have not coped with injuries because of that and it is still weird to me that they didn’t sign anyone in January.

“I think Bielsa was quite particular about spending money and signing players so now he’s gone maybe there will be a bit more room to do things.

“Marsch will want his own squad and if people like Kalvin Phillips move on then maybe it’s time for a complete overhaul.

“I think Leeds can go that next level but they need to invest, we know the money is there.

“I like Leeds and I want to see them fighting in the top half of the league instead of against relegation and they have the money to make that happen.”
