Leeds United told to seal ‘brilliant’ Michy Batshuayi signing after update – pundit

The signing of Michy Batshuayi would be “brilliant” for Leeds United.

That’s according to former Whites stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the club’s hunt for a new striker.

On Wednesday (20 April), TEAMtalk reported Batshuayi has been given the green light to leave Chelsea this summer with Leeds United interested.

The 28-year-old has been on loan at Besiktas this season, scoring 14 goals in 28 appearances.

The Whites could be looking to sign a new hitman this summer following Patrick Bamford’s injury issues this season.

Kenny claims the striker would be open to a move to Leeds.

“He’s a very good player,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He’s a striker who has been in and out of teams, you need to be playing regularly if you are a striker.

“You need game time and I think he would be a brilliant signing for Leeds.

“They need to strengthen in that area, that’s for sure. Batshuayi knows the league.

“He’s scored everywhere he’s been, that includes the Premier League and if Chelsea are willing to let him go then I’m sure he would want to sign for Leeds.

“You can’t rely on Bamford’s fitness and there isn’t anyone else there who is Premier League quality.”

Batshuayi joined Chelsea in the summer of 2016 and has scored 25 goals in 77 appearances for the club.

However, he has also been on loan at Borussia Dortmund, Valencia, Crystal Palace and Besiktas.
