Agbonlahor tells Leeds to sign ‘perfect’ Rose after what he’s heard behind the scenes
Gabby Agbonlahor has told Leeds United to re-sign full-back Danny Rose after he was released by Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward insisted the 30-year-old would be a “perfect” signing for the Whites who desperately need a new left-back.
Spurs confirmed this week that Rose will be leaving the club when his contract expires at the end of next month after 14 years with the club.
The 29-time England international is a graduate of the Leeds academy but did not make a senior appearance before moving to north London in July 2007.
He played 214 times for Spurs but did not make a single appearance this season after he was not registered in their Premier League squad.
Instead, he was limited to two appearances for the club’s Under-23s side after spending the campaign training with the youth team.
“He’s definitely got that Premier League level in him,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“I know him personally and he’s keeping himself very fit.
“For me, he’d be a perfect signing for Leeds. He’s not going to cost you any money and he won’t be on silly, silly money.
“You get him and he’s got that Premier League experience and he will work hard. For me, he would be a great signing.”
Ezgjan Alioski spent the majority of the campaign as Leeds’ first-choice left-back but his contract also expires this summer.
The club confirmed last week he has been offered a new deal but is yet to commit to anything.
In other news, Leeds United told to act quickly to sign 28 goal and assist sensation as £6million deal agreed.
